Married coupled Karl and Bethanie Schemel started Kansas City's first and only locally owned and operated food tour company in 2012.  Karl, born in Chicago, made his way to the University of Kansas to complete his bachelor's degree. From there he joined the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department where he has been serving the city as a firefighter for over 13 years. Bethanie, raised in Wichita,KS, completed her bachelors degree at Emporia State University then moved to Kansas City for her first post-college job and to be close to her family. They married in 2010 and have been enjoying the savory smoked meats of Kansas City for over 30 years combined. 

Why start a barbecue food tour?

"We get this question all of the time! Kansas City has over 100 barbecue restaurants to choose from and the question of where to go and what to get when there can be a little overwhelming if someone is not familiar with Kansas City BBQ. We wanted to find a way to ease any tasting anxieties over where to go and what to get. So, we bought a bus and the rest is history! We have LOVED every minute of our tours and have loved meeting guests from all over the world. Our goal is that guests leave our tours full, happy and with the same love and appreciation for Kansas City Barbecue that we have."

Our tours are family friendly!

We love having a way for families to get out and do something together! We have kids and know that sometimes finding a sitter can be hard or the baby sitter cancels..been there! We encourage parents to bring their children on any of our tours.
